Nuwan Fernando

Co-founder & Director

After completing his Bachelor of Biotechnology at Griffith University in 2005, Nuwan worked as a biochemist at the Botswana-Harvard AIDS Institute. Subsequently he worked in the oil and gas industry for Weatherford International as a laboratory and field analyst till 2013.

With his ever increasing interest in property and entrepreneurship, combined with the downturn of the resources sector, Nuwan felt that it was time for change and made a decision to make the switch. He joined forces with his brother Dilanka and invested in mentoring from several industry experts specialising in business and real estate development. Nuwan and Dilanka incorporated AEG in 2014.

Dilanka Fernando

Co-founder & Director

Dilanka completed his Bachelor of Biotechnology and Master of Clinical Microbiology at Griffith University in 2011 earning awards of academic excellence. He was then employed at Queensland Institute of Medical Research as a research assistant in the Scabies laboratory. Dilanka enjoyed medical research, however, it did not allow Dilanka to fulfil his passion for business and interacting with people. He then made the decision to join his brother Nuwan and co-found AEG in 2014. Dilanka undertook a Diploma of Business Administration to further his skillset and expand his knowledge, completing it in 2015.

Bob Andersen

Senior Consulting Mentor

Bob has been involved in property development for over 32 years. He is one of a few among Australia’s elite group of developers and has been involved in over $1 billion worth of property development projects. Bob has developed high rise buildings, commercial buildings, retirement complexes, student accommodation, land subdivisions, townhouses and units.

Bob has held roles as Queensland Commercial Development Manager at Hooker Projects, State Development Manager at Pioneer Property Group and National Acquisitions Manager at MBA Group. In 2001, he established Positive Property Strategies. Since then, it has become one of Australia's leading property development consultancies, with typically between 50 and 110 million dollars of property developments in the pipeline at any given time.

Bob is regularly featured and interviewed in a range of publications including Australian Property Investor (API) magazine, Money magazine, Success magazine, and Your Property Investment magazine. He is the resident expert on property development on API’s Bricks and Mortar question forum and is featured in all 12 episodes of one of the most popular API Magazine features ever - the Small Property Development Guide. He has also been interviewed on Fox News, Sky News, 4BC radio and has been a key-note speaker at several property industry events. In 2006, Bob co-authored “Residential Real Estate Development: A Practical Guide for Beginners to Experts”.

Luke Andersen

Consulting Mentor

Luke joined Bob Andersen in 2003 following the completion of a Bachelor of Business Management (International Business / Marketing) from Queensland University of Technology. Alongside Bob, Luke managed several projects ranging in scale from 20 townhouses projects through to 120 unit retirement villages.

In 2006 Luke co-authored and published “Residential Real Estate Development: A Practical Guide for Beginners to Experts” which sold successfully both in Australia and overseas.

Whilst never straying too far from his property development roots, in 2007 Luke began developing a financial planning client base following completion of a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Services from the Finance and Securities Institute of Australasia. Having progressed to become a partner in one of Brisbane’s leading financial services firms, Luke sold his stake in the business in 2014 to return to property development on a full-time basis.

Ben Smith

Consulting Mentor

After studying Engineering at the University of Queensland Ben started his first business in 1999 and before long started investing in property. From there, he started his own development company and 12 successful projects later, Ben branched out into larger developments.

Having started working with Bob Andersen in early 2007 Ben has broadened his knowledge and experience in property development, having gained a thorough understanding of the core disciplines.

Ben has experience in developing land sub-divisions, unit blocks, townhouses, house and land, and major renovations. He also mentors budding developers who want to start in property development.

Outside of property development, Ben is the President of SOH Radio Inc, a not-for-profit organisation which raises awareness on issues such as human rights.
